The university subsidizes free, unlimited San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and North County Transit District (NCTD) bus rides on routes serving the campus.
To receive a free UCSD MTS/ NCTD bus sticker, bring your valid UCSD photo Campus Card to one of these offices:
- Campus parking office: Commute Solutions desk, Gilman Parking Structure
(map),
7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays
- Hillcrest Medical Center: Bachman Parking Structure (map), 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays
Affix the sticker to the front of your Campus Card. When you board the bus, show it to the driver.
Note: UCSD MTS/ NCTD stickers expire annually at the end of June. Be sure to renew your sticker by July 1.

Monthly transit passes for routes outside the Free Bus Zone are available at reduced rates for current faculty, staff and students. Pay with cash or check from the 27th of the previous month through the 10th of each month at the campus parking office in the Gilman parking structure (map) and Hillcrest Medical Center parking office in the Bachman parking structure (map). Student quarterly passes are only available at the main campus parking office.
